The Indian cricket team reached Kolkata on Friday evening, 27 February 2026. They came for an important T20 World Cup Super 8 match against the West Indies.

The team is led by captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir. Their flight was delayed by almost one hour because Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport was temporarily closed.

The airport was closed after a 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit Kolkata at 1:22 PM. Flights were stopped for safety reasons.

The team travelled from Chennai, where they had defeated Zimbabwe earlier.

The upcoming match will be played at Eden Gardens. It is like a quarter-final. The winner will go to the semi-final with South Africa. The losing team will be out of the tournament.
