Prince William Plays Cricket with Sourav Ganguly, Brian Lara and Ajinkya Rahane Outside Buckingham Palace

Prince William, the Prince of Wales, joined cricket legends Sourav Ganguly, Brian Lara, James Anderson, Joe Root, Ajinkya Rahane and Harry Brook for a special cricket event outside Buckingham Palace in London on October 13.

Titled Cricket on The Mall, the event was organised to promote the upcoming Earthshot Prize ceremony in Mumbai.

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared footage of the event on their official social media accounts, highlighting Mumbai as the host city for the upcoming ceremony.

Prince William expressed his appreciation for cricket and praised former India captain Sourav Ganguly, recognising his contribution to the game.

Ganguly, popularly known as ‘Dada’, is regarded as one of India's most influential cricket captains. His leadership in the early 2000s helped build a more confident and competitive Indian team.

West Indies legend Brian Lara, renowned for his outstanding batting records, also took part in the event. England cricket stars James Anderson, Joe Root and Harry Brook joined them, along with former India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.

The gathering brought together cricket stars from different generations and countries at one of Britain's most famous landmarks.

The event was linked to the Earthshot Prize, an environmental initiative founded by Prince William to support innovative solutions to global environmental challenges.

With Mumbai set to host the upcoming ceremony, the event used cricket's international popularity to highlight environmental awareness and sustainability.

The special match combined sporting spirit, international friendship and a shared commitment to protecting the planet.
